Your first visit with Brilliant Smiles Orthodontics
When you arrive at one of our offices, you’ll be greeted warmly and introduced to some of our talented team. After a quick tour to help you feel comfortable with your surroundings, we’ll look through your medical and dental history, then take a few x-rays, photos, and impressions for our diagnostic records. Once these are complete, Dr. Chiang will perform a thorough oral examination.
Although the unknown can be scary, you don’t have to worry about any part of the orthodontic process with our practice! We’ll make sure you understand each step and never want you to feel rushed or like your questions and concerns have gone unanswered. After your exam is complete, we’ll sit down with you to discuss a variety of topics, including:
- any oral issues you’re experiencing
- if treatment is needed immediately
- what treatment options are available to correct the problem
- if any permanent teeth will need to be removed first
- an estimate of how long we expect your treatment to take
- the total investment required for treatment
- any payment or financing options we have available to you

Don’t worry – we’ll ensure that you understand all the associated costs of treatment before we begin the process!

Once treatment has started, we can file your claims for you.
Please remember that orthodontic insurance is a benefit for you or your child. If, during treatment, your benefits change, the financially responsible party is accountable for all charges.
What comes next
Once your consultation is complete, we’ll schedule an appointment for you to receive your new orthodontic appliance. You’ll also be scheduled for follow-up appointments with us every 6-8 weeks or so, depending on your treatment plan. During these visits, we’ll adjust your appliance if necessary and check that everything is progressing according to plan.
These visits are an essential part of your orthodontic treatment, so you mustn’t skip them. Sometimes life has other plans, however! While we do our best to make sure appointments are scheduled for a day and time that’s convenient for you, if for some reason you’re running late or can’t make your appointment, we simply ask that you let us know as soon as possible. We’ll be happy to accommodate you by rescheduling your appointment for another day. This will keep your treatment on target.
